Family Services Supervisor I

The Chesterfield County Department of Social Services is seeking an experienced professional to provide leadership and program oversight to the Employment Services team. The ideal candidate will lead the team using a strengths-based and solution-focused approach in all aspects of leadership and program oversight.
Key Responsibilities- Coach and train staff to achieve performance excellence
- Manage change and facilitate adjustments necessary for the team to embrace changes in practice and program policies and procedures
- Assign, review, and evaluate staff's work and plans and develops policies and processes that ensure efficient work-flow and ongoing program development
- Review and evaluate service effectiveness using data and various program evaluation methods
- Interpret policies and programs to other agencies and the public, develop collaborative relationships and resources in the community, and apply knowledge of Virginia VIEW Employment Services Program procedures
- Assist in budget preparation, monitor program expenditures, maintain records, prepare reports, and perform other work as required
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or bachelor's degree in any field with relevant experience and a minimum of one year of appropriate and related experience in public social services in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Three years of experience in adult programs, including experience as a supervisor or lead worker desired; Master's degree preferred
- Program specific experience in Virginia public social services preferred
- Experience compiling reports, correspondence, narrative of case management, and grant proposals preferred
- Excellent organizational, time management, oral/written communication, interpersonal, public relations, and supervisory skills
- Knowledge and ability to apply social work principles and Virginia policies in VIEW Employment Services, TANF, SNAP-ET, and other applicable programs
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Computer competency required
- Ability to interpret laws, policies, and regulations related to human services
- Excellent organizational, oral/written communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills required
- Must be willing to work outside normal working hours as required
