About the Opportunity:
The Shoreman will assist the Fill Foreman in ensuring the shoreline is prepared to receive pipeline and dredge fill material, taking charge during the night shift. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to work independently.
About the Company:
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation is the largest provider of dredging services in the United States, with a long history of performing significant international projects. The company employs experienced civil, ocean, and mechanical engineering staff in its estimating, production, and project management functions.
Responsibilities and Functions:
- Install shore pipeline and ensure its integrity
- Organize the area being filled by blocking off the section with fence or construction tape
- Move barriers ahead as pipeline moves, daily on average
- Ensure the beach construction site advances at least 50 feet a day when the dredge is operating
- Ensure all debris is cleaned up behind each move
- Help construct sand crossover ramps over pipes and maintain them
- Inspect the shore pipeline to detect leaks and repair minor leaks to pipe sections where necessary
Requirements:
- Mechanical experience preferred
- Valid TWIC card
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen
- Commitment to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, or push parts or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs
