Job Summary

Battelle Memorial Institute is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Seasonal Field Technician to join our team. As a key member of our National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) program, you will be responsible for collecting and processing ecological data in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and record ecological data using standardized protocols
  • Operate and maintain field equipment, including instruments and sampling gear
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure data quality and accuracy
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • One month of experience in ecological field sampling or related experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and acceptable driving record

Working Conditions:

  • Field work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and rough terrain
  • Instrument maintenance requires ascending and descending multiple flights of stairs
  • Driving off-road in 4WD vehicles is required for most field sites
