Job Overview

ATC Automation is seeking a Senior Automation Systems Engineer to design and maintain bespoke automation solutions. Our company specializes in creating tailored automated assembly and testing systems for a variety of sectors, including transportation, life sciences, and consumer products.

The Senior Automation Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing electrical and pneumatic schematics, interpreting technical drawings, and troubleshooting complex electrical and pneumatic systems. This role requires expertise in determining specifications for materials and components, as well as programming machinery to ensure optimal performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, robotics, servo systems, vision technologies, and various sensors and actuators. At ATC, you will collaborate within a dynamic team dedicated to delivering outstanding projects while adhering to budgetary and scheduling constraints, all while prioritizing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in Rockwell-Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Mitsubishi software.
  • Ability to read and create pneumatic and electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Develop and troubleshoot intricate programs for industrial machinery operations.
  • Demonstrate advanced computer skills with a high level of proficiency in software for designing ladder logic and machine controls, as well as potential expertise in database development and upper-level interfaces.
  • Engage with clients to establish machine performance requirements.
  • Solid understanding of electrical and controls engineering principles and theories.
  • Oversee the installation of completed automation systems.
  • Willingness to travel and possess a valid driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma along with a Vocational Technical School certificate and a minimum of 5 years of experience as a controls technician.
  • At least 8 years of relevant industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10 or more years of relevant professional experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend.
  • Capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Frequent exertion of 10 to 25 pounds of force.
  • Constant exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Visual acuity for near tasks, with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to monitor machine sounds for identification and diagnosis.
