Southern Illinois University is seeking highly qualified candidates for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the School of Automotive. As a faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching technical undergraduate automotive courses, conducting research, and providing service to the profession, students, and university.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching: Carry an approved teaching load and maintain appropriate office hours.
- Research: Conduct research to broaden the body of knowledge in the discipline.
- Service: Provide service to the profession and university.
- Classroom Management: Manage classrooms, laboratories, tools, equipment, and other resources utilized.
- Student Support: Provide educational and professionally related assistance to prospective and enrolled students.
- Indirect Instruction: Engage in indirect instruction to support student learning and retention.
- Grading and Feedback: Keep students apprised of grades as the semester progresses and enter final grades electronically within specified deadlines.
- Professional Development: Participate in professional associations, service, and outreach activities related to the discipline.
- Program Development: Participate in program development, quality assurance, and assessment duties as required.
- Industry Knowledge: Remain abreast of recent developments and practices in the industry.
- Certifications: Obtain and/or maintain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification(s) in assigned teaching areas if required.
- Training and Credentials: Obtain and/or maintain training and credentials necessary for Program Accreditation.
- Compliance: Comply with Program quality assurance and assessment requirements.
- University Policies: Comply with all University and College policies and procedures.
- Additional Responsibilities: Engage in other School assignments as determined by the School Director.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have an earned Master's degree in management, business, education, automotive, engineering, or a closely related discipline, and a minimum three (3) years of related experience in the automotive or mobility industries. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
