Job Summary

The Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Patient Care Specialist. This is a dynamic and challenging role that requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients, including health maintenance, teaching, counseling, and rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Effectively delegate patient care activities to colleagues with the appropriate knowledge and skill level.
  • Demonstrate expertise in providing care to patients with diverse medical diagnoses and surgical needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote healthy behaviors and disease management.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing required.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Massachusetts required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required for critical care areas.
  • Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required for pediatric critical care areas.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar role or setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records and computer systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.
Age-Based Competencies
  • Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Neonatal: Birth to 6 months, Youth: 6 months to 16 years, Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30-60 years, Elderly: 60+ years.
Physical Nature of the Job
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.
