The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in supporting surgical teams and ensuring optimal patient care in a healthcare setting. Under the guidance of Registered Nurses, the Surgical Technician is tasked with various responsibilities that adhere to established Operating Room protocols and practices. This position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality care to patients across diverse age groups, from young adults to seniors.

  • Preparation: Assess the Operating Room schedule, review surgeons' preference cards, and assist in gathering essential instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Scrubbing Duties: Execute surgical hand scrubs, anticipate the needs of the surgical team by passing instruments, and operate laser equipment as required.
  • Aseptic Practices: Maintain strict aseptic techniques, don appropriate surgical attire, and minimize unnecessary communication during procedures.
  • Instrument Management: Ensure instruments remain clean throughout surgeries and properly manage the disposal of used instruments.
  • Sterilization Knowledge: Understand sterilization indicators and demonstrate knowledge of sterilizer operations.
  • Workplace Conduct: Follow safety protocols, support colleagues, and stay informed about policy updates.
  • Patient Interaction: Exhibit flexibility in work scheduling, communicate effectively, and prioritize patient care.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Requirements: A high school diploma along with successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital environment is preferred.

Certifications: Candidates must possess BLS certification and are required to hold CST certification.
