  2. Requirements:
    1. Foster parents must undergo screening prior to child placement, utilizing standardized assessment methods that comply with legal standards for home studies.
    2. A medical examination, including a skin tuberculin test, is required for foster parents before child placement and at each license renewal, unless special health circumstances necessitate more frequent evaluations.
    3. Foster parents should possess the experience, personal attributes, and temperament necessary to work effectively with children and their biological families, providing care, protection, and experiences that support healthy child development.
    4. Capability to instruct youth care theory and practice to staff members working directly with children.
    5. Knowledge and experience in group processes and dynamics.
    6. Ability to lead and guide subordinate staff.
    7. Skill in motivating and collaborating with other professionals and agency employees.
    8. Competence in interacting with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences within the client population.
  • Reports To: Foster Care Supervisor
  1. Key Responsibilities:
    1. Deliver direct therapeutic services to children.
    2. Exhibit training and proficiency in the Interaction and Motivation program utilized by the agency, providing training and consultation to direct care staff, and employing teaching interactions in work with youth.
    3. Ensure appropriate supervision of children in line with agency standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Provide judicious intervention in crisis situations to ensure the safety of children, staff, and agency property in accordance with agency protocols.
  2. Maintain the competence of childcare staff in achieving objectives through effective development, training, and motivation.
  3. Ensure that each child is assessed as per agency practices and receives a personalized case service plan that addresses their individual needs.
  4. Foster positive communication with parents, referring agencies, and other agency resources.
  5. Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisors.
