Outpatient Rehabilitation Specialist

Full-Time Position

Location: Rhode Island

As an Outpatient Rehabilitation Specialist, you will deliver therapeutic services to individuals experiencing physical impairments, functional limitations, or disabilities due to various causes. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes. Your role will include educating patients, their families, and other stakeholders, as well as supervising support staff. You will be responsible for effectively managing resources, including technical, environmental, and financial aspects.

  • Assess and evaluate patient rehabilitation needs in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Develop treatment plans that reflect a comprehensive understanding of the patient's age and unique circumstances, including plans for discharge.
  • Modify treatment plans based on ongoing assessments of patient progress towards established goals.
  • Ensure documentation is thorough, timely, and adheres to facility and practice protocols.
  • Orient, train, and mentor therapy and healthcare students to meet performance expectations.
  • Identify and act upon opportunities for performance improvement to implement best practices.
  • Complete additional departmental, organizational, or network activities as per established objectives.

Qualifications

Education/Degree

  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.

Licensure

  • Current licensure as a physical therapist in good standing.

Required Skills

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Fundamental skills in mathematics and computer applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of physical therapy evaluation and treatment methodologies for rehabilitation.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities for evaluating, interpreting, and planning treatment, considering the patient's age and background.
  • Skills in teaching and self-assessment of learning needs and professional goals.
  • Ability to perform all job duties safely without risking harm to self or patients, demonstrating understanding of human development and family dynamics.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new software.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate patient care needs.
