Job Summary:
The Yakima SNAP-Ed Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing culturally sensitive and inclusive nutrition education and Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) interventions for SNAP-Ed qualifying audiences in Yakima County.
This position involves facilitating basic nutrition and wellness-related classes, coordinating and implementing program activities that relate to PSE nutrition and physical activity outreach, and evaluating programs by collecting data and reporting on progress.
The Yakima SNAP-Ed Program Coordinator builds relationships with the community and works closely with other SNAP-Ed staff, Extension staff, and community partners to build obesity prevention programming for qualifying audiences in Yakima County.
This position ensures that all activities meet the needs of the local community and are appropriate within SNAP-Ed and WSU guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate basic nutrition and wellness-related classes
- Coordinate and implement program activities related to PSE nutrition and physical activity outreach
- Evaluate programs by collecting data and reporting on progress
- Build relationships with the community and work with other SNAP-Ed staff, Extension staff, and community partners
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two years of related program experience
- Washington State Food Handler's Permit or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
- Valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with departmental driving standards
- Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts
