Civil Designer Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Civil Designer to join our team at Stantec. As a Civil Designer, you will play a crucial role in the development of infrastructure projects, working closely with our team of experienced engineers and designers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of drawings and reports, conducting basic calculations and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the team to prepare construction contract documents, project proposals, change orders, plans, and reports.
  • Participate in client, contractor, and stakeholder meetings to gain a deeper understanding of client goals.
  • Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer or designer.
  • Monitor your work to ensure timely completion and adherence to project schedules.
  • Utilize relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings, continuing to develop skills in design and drafting.
  • Assist with engineering duties on projects of varying complexity.
Qualifications
  • General understanding of relevant civil design concepts.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D preferred) and/or MicroStation (InRoads/Openroads preferred).
  • Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Ability to participate in a project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates with other members of the design team.
  • Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various elements.
Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related field is required. Minimum of 0-2 years of experience is preferred, with co-op or internship experience being a plus.

This position will primarily work in an office setting, with some field work possible.
