Job Title: Food Service Associate I

Bay Area Hospital is seeking a skilled Food Service Associate I to join our team. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for assisting with tray line activities, cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking kitchen/cafeteria areas.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with tray line activities, ensuring timely and efficient service to patients and staff.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen/cafeteria areas, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Restock kitchen/cafeteria areas with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Operate various equipment, such as buffalo choppers, knives, mixers, and blenders, with precision and care.
  • Utilize inventory control methods, including FIFO, to manage food and supplies effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management, providing excellent customer service.
Requirements:
  • Possess knowledge and skills to adhere to all protocols for safe food handling and sanitation.
  • Demonstrate consistent and punctual attendance at the designated work location.
  • Be proficient in operating various equipment and familiar with inventory control methods.
  • Exhibit the ability to learn sanitation techniques, portion control, and tray line operations.
  • Capable of communicating effectively in English.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Education/Certifications:
  • Must possess or obtain an Oregon Food Handler, Food Manager certification, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Proficient in English reading, writing, and verbal communication.
  • Preferably a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Preferred possession of an Oregon state driver's license.
Experience:

Previous experience of one (1) year in hospital-based food service or restaurant setting is desirable.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements:
  • Able to perform physical tasks, such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Work conditions may involve high temperatures, humidity, and wet surfaces.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
