As a Merchandise Preparation Specialist, you will be integral to our operations, carefully preparing, sorting, tagging, and hanging donations to ensure they are ready for our retail environment. With a keen attention to detail and a commitment to achieving daily production targets, you will uphold the quality of our offerings to enhance our impact. In addition to sorting, you will also engage with customers on the sales floor, addressing inquiries and delivering outstanding service.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Merchandise Preparation Specialist is responsible for preparing, sorting, tagging, and hanging donations for the retail floor while also providing exceptional customer service. Employment is subject to a criminal background check.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sort, price, tag, and hang donated items in preparation for retail display
  • Ensure the quality of merchandise and pre-sort items for salvage
  • Achieve daily production goals of at least 5 racks, with 100 pieces per rack or team targets as approved
  • Conduct daily and nightly recovery of the sales floor
  • Assist customers by answering questions and providing excellent service
  • Adhere to safety and housekeeping standards
  • Maintain a professional and adaptable demeanor; willing to take on various responsibilities
  • Promote the mission and values of Goodwill
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in retail, production, warehouse, material handling, or customer service preferred

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • No specific certifications required

QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, reach with hands/arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, push or pull. Regular communication is required, along with frequent use of hands and fingers to handle objects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees may encounter moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is typically moderate.
