The Opportunity

The Director of Operations is a key leadership position that plays a pivotal role in the success of the organization.

This individual will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of MAC, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the organization's mission and strategic goals.

The Director of Operations will need to be a dynamic and proactive leader with exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills to drive operational excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement internal policies to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and other senior leaders to align operational strategies with organizational goals.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Serve as the project manager for grant reporting, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and deadlines.
  • Manage and oversee the administration of grants, including budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Work with the outsourced accounting firm to support MAC's finances.
  • Build the organization's budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director and the outsourced finance team.
  • Work with the Board of Directors on finance updates, providing accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Oversee IT functions, ensuring the organization's technology infrastructure supports its operations.
  • Manage office space and facilities, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
  • Supervise the Office Manager, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth office operations.
Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Operations.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of progressive experience overseeing business operations functions in a fast-paced, innovative nonprofit environment.

They will have exceptional organizational and project management abilities, as well as experience in budgeting and financial reporting, grant management, and IT management.

The candidate will be a dynamic and proactive leader with strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.

They will be dedicated to managing and continuously improving operational systems for inter-departmental work and have a strong commitment to racial equity and social justice.

Location, Compensation, and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt hybrid position requiring at least 2 days a week in our Boston office near South Station.

The salary range is $76,000 – $83,000, and the company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, employer-paid life and short-term disability insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan.

Employees receive generous paid time off, including vacation starting at 2 weeks per year, 15 sick days, 11 holidays plus 2 floating holidays, an office closure from December 26 to January 1, and 2 personal days annually.

Additionally, employees are eligible for a sabbatical after 7 years of service.
