Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Electrical and Instrumentation team in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting the development of electrical deliverables on various projects, including electrical power studies, area classification drawings, and specification of electrical equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and design, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the LNG, energy transition, carbon capture, refining, and petrochemical plant sectors. A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading and/or supporting a team of electrical engineers and designers on projects
  • Developing project scope of work for electrical engineering and design
  • Monitoring and advising department managers of major project changes
  • Preparing detail design schedules, staff loading schedules, and man-hour estimates for engineering and design tasks
  • Reporting progress, updating schedules, managing staffing needs, and hourly budget
  • Establishing engineering and design concepts and data for scope assigned to the group and ensuring technical accuracy and conformance to project requirements
  • Preparing project scope deviations documentation as required
  • Researching suitable solutions, estimated costs, and timescales
  • Training less experienced engineers
  • Reviewing vendor documents
  • Independently evaluating the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria, and systems to efficiently meet project objectives
  • Applying standard engineering design tasks and exhibiting a working knowledge of applicable codes
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of work
  • Reviewing and generating design data and/or deliverables from various inputs
  • Performing the more sophisticated and complicated designs in accordance with established company standards
  • Coordinating details and miscellaneous design criteria with other disciplines
  • Supervising, checking, and assisting other electrical personnel in their assignments
  • Preparing and/or supervising and checking documents and drawings as required
