The contractor is expected to work typically from Monday to Friday, excluding Federal holidays, during the hours of 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Each session will last for one (1) hour, with the facility anticipating the need for one (1) assistant who will manage an average of eight (8) sessions daily. The total working hours for the Radiologic Technologist will not exceed 30 hours per week, with specific hours determined by the Health Services Administrator.
Qualifications and ExperienceEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- The contractor must hold a valid license to perform radiological procedures from the American Registry of Radiology Technologists and be licensed in the state of New York. A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
Background clearance packets must include a certified or photocopied version of the current license. The contractor must also be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as per the standards of the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Documentation proving graduation from an accredited radiology technology program must accompany the quotation. In the case of a company, the qualified individual designated to provide these services must be identified at the time of submission.
Verification of credentials (state and federal licenses if applicable) and proof of insurance are mandatory.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- The contractor will deliver comprehensive Radiologic Technologist services, which encompass a variety of tasks. The contractor must be capable of executing all necessary radiology procedures independently, without technical assistance. Familiarity with the current digital radiological equipment at the facility is essential.
- Perform routine radiological procedures as ordered by medical personnel for the inmate population. This includes transmitting and retrieving X-ray images and reports electronically, as well as scanning reports into the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR). Training will be provided to retrieve radiographic consults from BEMR and to schedule all necessary radiographic procedures.
Additional duties may include conducting Electrocardiogram (ECG) tests and working with a diverse inmate population from various cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
Responsibilities also include evaluating radiographic equipment for necessary calibrations and repairs, possessing knowledge of potential emergency situations during specialized radiographic procedures, scheduling exams, maintaining records, and logging all exposures.
The contractor will be responsible for Dosimeter badges, ensuring they are changed quarterly, and must demonstrate knowledge of various pathological conditions as evidenced by radiographic imaging, promptly notifying the clinician of any urgent findings.
Independently perform all radiographic procedures, including but not limited to chest, bone, skull, spine, and portable X-rays. The contractor must inform the Radiologist or referring physician of any preliminary abnormalities detected during examinations, facilitating additional views or exams as required.
Coordinate the transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure seamless continuity of care and collaborate with the Clinical Director to complete monitoring and evaluation activities.
Act as a liaison between the Radiologist and medical staff, receive training and orientation, and adhere to correctional techniques relevant to medical services.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the facility's medical protocols and consistently wear protective clothing while following CDC universal precautions.
