Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Examination Technician to join our team at the Internal Revenue Service. As a Tax Examination Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and fairness of tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Distribute, balance, and monitor workload in accordance with established workflow or job specialization.
  • Assure equitable distribution among employees and timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
  • Amend or reject work not meeting established standards and refer to supervisor any problems on meeting performance standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives; answer questions; and provide both classroom and OJT instruction to employees.
  • Resolve simple informal complaints, refer others to supervisor; report on performance, progress, and training needs of employees and on disciplinary problems.
  • Perform administrative duties in the absence of the manager.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience working/adjusting individual and/or business accounts, applying tax laws, regulations, practices, tax forms, notices, bills, and other documents relative to this position.
  • Experience with on-line systems, research materials, technology, and tools to resolve taxpayer's inquiries/issues.
Education

A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience.

Additional Information

This is a bargaining unit position. Tour of Duty: Monday-Friday: Day Shift - Start and stop times between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Swing Shift - Start and stop times between 2:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Actual TOD to be determined at time of selection. Alternative work schedule, staggered work hours or telework may be available.
