POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vehicle Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing a range of minor repairs and services to ensure the optimal performance of motor vehicles. This role involves applying and maintaining decals on vehicles, conducting battery checks and replacements, rotating, repairing, and replacing tires, as well as washing, polishing, and cleaning both the interiors and exteriors of vehicles. Additionally, the specialist will drain, flush, and replace engine, transmission, and differential oils and greases, check, clean, calibrate, and replace spark plugs, and maintain oil and air filters.
The Vehicle Maintenance Specialist will also adjust brake systems, replace windshield wipers, and assist in major overhaul tasks by disassembling and cleaning parts, repairing components such as generators and water pumps, and replacing thermostats, points, electrical wiring, and other necessary items. Maintaining tools and equipment and ensuring a clean work environment are also key responsibilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling parts and loads weighing up to 50 pounds.
- A basic understanding of the Microsoft Office suite is essential.
- Steel toe shoes and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are mandatory in designated areas during work activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled vehicles and trailer equipment.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to accurately identify issues.
- Repair brake and steering systems as necessary.
- Replace or repair engines, transmissions, and fuel components as required.
- Address cooling system repairs, including air conditioning and engine cooling.
- Perform emissions inspections, safety checks, and other state-regulated vehicle examinations.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning parts and resolve issues such as leaks.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Produce clear and accurate documentation reflecting the work performed.
- Execute additional duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the company and department.
