Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner II to join our team at the University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The successful candidate will provide independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols.
  • Provide patient care in a team-based care environment to a diversified patient population.
  • Apply knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations.
  • Participate in patient and staff education, demonstrate leadership skills, and demonstrate accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
Requirements
  • One year or greater experience as a nurse practitioner is required.
  • One year or greater recent clinical experience in specialty care of the hiring department.
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine and Psychiatry.
  • Recent NP experience in a psychiatric setting.
  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
  • California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License.
  • California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR.
  • National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area.
  • Graduation with a master's degree, DNP, or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with a culturally diverse patient population. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, judgment skills to effectively meet the needs of patients, self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role, and ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.
