Event Marketing Specialist

About the Position:
The City of Box Elder seeks a skilled marketing and event coordinator to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies and plans, enhance community engagement, and promote the city's brand identity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Marketing Initiatives: Develop and implement effective marketing initiatives to promote the City of Box Elder's brand identity and engage the community.
- Produce Engaging Content: Produce engaging promotional and marketing content for various outreach channels, including social media, digital media, and signage, to ensure promotions reach the intended audience promptly.
- Conduct Thorough Research: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify new opportunities for growth and engagement.
- Evaluate Marketing Effectiveness: Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts through metrics and reports, providing regular updates to department leadership.
- Design and Coordinate Promotional Materials: Design and coordinate promotional materials, including flyers, applications, videos, advertisements, posters, and banners, while working with vendors for production as needed.
- Promote the City and Events: Promote the city and create sponsorship opportunities at local events, including Chamber meetings and other business meetings.
- Manage Event Budgets and Expenses: Manage event budgets and track expenses to ensure events stay within budget.
- Coordinate Event Logistics and Vendors: Plan, organize, and oversee the coordination of vendors for all events, including managing reservations of locations for City-sponsored indoor and outdoor events.
- Lead Volunteer Teams and Manage Locations: Lead volunteer teams for all events and manage reservations of locations for City-sponsored indoor and outdoor events.
- Staying Current on Industry Trends: Stay current on industry trends and best practices in marketing and event coordination.
- Collaborate with Department Leadership and Ensure Safety: Collaborate with the Safety & Risk Manager to ensure the safety of participants and that liability issues of the City are met.
- Present Post-Event Summaries and Reports: Present post-event summaries and reports to Council as needed.
- Initiate Documentation and Contracts: Initiate documentation according to the approved purchasing policy for vendors and contracts to support events.
- Represent the City and Enhance Community Engagement: Represent the city and its interests at events and ceremonies, taking pictures to post on social media pages and assisting with creating content for the City website and social media accounts.
- Compile Data and Reports: Compile data, reports, and special projects as requested, preparing and maintaining related documents and updating materials as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience: A minimum of two years of professional economic development marketing and event planning experience. An associate or bachelor's degree in marketing is preferred.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Valid South Dakota Driver's license, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of the hiring date.
Salary Range: $59,309.60-$65,466.70 per year.
