Job Title:
Senior Systems Infrastructure Specialist

As a Senior Systems Infrastructure Specialist, you will be responsible for the availability and integrity of physical and virtual infrastructure for Machinery Control Systems (MCS) Code 50. Your primary focus will be on maintaining fully patched and updated operating systems images, becoming a subject matter expert to support VDI and MCS development activities, and providing engineering support for virtual and physical enterprise servers and VDI operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain fully patched and updated operating systems images
  • Become subject matter expert to support the VDI and any MCS development activities
  • Provide engineering support for virtual and physical enterprise servers and operates/sustains the VDI
  • Support physical/virtual server and storage systems, including monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair
  • Maintain records of system downtime and equipment inventory
  • Apply revisions to host system firmware and software
  • Work with vendors to assist support activities
  • Develop new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability
  • Perform troubleshooting as required
  • Lead problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel
  • Install, modify, and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems
  • Provide server support related to other software
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of critical computer resources
  • Develop procedures, programs, and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications
  • Develop and coordinate project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on programmatic activity
  • Provide input in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and systems administration
  • Develop test procedures to validate upgrade is completed and existing functionality is still operational
  • Support and assist with peer review to support the software and hardware development
  • Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect the organization's digital assets
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks
  • Manage firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools to safeguard network integrity
  • Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and respond to security incidents
  • Educate and train employees on new software/hardware and security best practices and awareness
