Job Summary:

A Clinical Allergy Specialist Floater plays a vital role in the United Allergy Services team, performing clinical and administrative responsibilities in a medical provider's office. This position works directly under the supervision of a physician and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the allergy center. The Clinical Allergy Specialist Floater administers allergy tests, educates patients on allergen immunotherapy, and provides patient-centered care to those suffering from allergies in the communities served by United Allergy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of allergens, the allergic response, and UAS clinical protocols.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and staff to ensure seamless care and services.
  • Administers safe and effective immunotherapy processes, including allergy testing and the formulation and preparation of allergy immunotherapy.
  • Provides family-centered patient care that is developmentally and age-appropriate, compassionate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health.
  • Ensures patient progress by monitoring and following up with patients to ensure timely completion of immunotherapy.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork and verifies insurance eligibility for patients prior to testing and immunotherapy.
  • Administers patient scheduling and handles billing documentation through applicable EMR systems.
  • Maintains clinic inventory levels, ensuring timely ordering and receipt of supplies.
  • Monitors and ensures the proper functioning of refrigeration and other equipment.
  • Develops and maintains effective, professional relationships with providers and medical office staff.
  • Escalates patient or other questions to the appropriate team member or provider in a timely manner.
  • Administers allergy clinic testing and immunotherapy, ensuring quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Ensures all required processes and procedures are followed for the allergy center.
  • Oversees and administers inventory for clinic supplies, safety, and compliance activities.
  • Meets strategic goals and objectives for clinic productivity and revenue.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in health sciences or business is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of equivalent work experience in a healthcare, hospital, customer service, retail, or similar industry.
  • Nursing or other medical technician certification(s) as required by state or local area regulations.
  • Experience communicating with individuals at all levels in a professional or clinical environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and remain organized and focused on tasks, patient needs, and allergy clinic operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure suitable and complete results.
  • Ability to travel periodically within the local clinical area and occasionally overnight to other clinic or business locations.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including measuring and calculation of allergy care center functions.
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary and approved.
  • Fluent English communication skills, including reading, writing, and interpretation.
  • Experience using MS Word applications, typing, and computer systems.
  • Ability to navigate multiple software applications, including UAS applications and EMR or client applications.
  • Ability to understand and respond to communications verbally, in person, or via email or other written communications.
