Professional Staff Nurse: Night Program

The Night Program Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. This role is responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care. The Night Program Professional Staff Nurse has the authority and accountability for the provision of nursing care. They manage and provide patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members.
Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care and services to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with physicians, other healthcare providers, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans that address the unique needs and goals of each patient.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, and develop plans to address these needs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients' responses to these interventions.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote health and wellness.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and services.
- Zero to two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- BSN preferred.
- Previous surgical nursing or patient care support experience preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and utilize specialized equipment.
- Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required.
- Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and lead others in application of the nursing process.
- Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state where the facility is located.
- UPMC approved national certification preferred.
- Act 34 clearance required.
