Automotive Technician

The Automotive Technician, under the general supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, is responsible for delivering a comprehensive array of technical services on company-operated diesel buses, vans, and cars.

This role also collaborates closely with the Terminal Manager.

Compensation:
$22 per hour

Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, Full-Time

Working Hours:
Between 5:00am-6:00pm

Work Location:
Garner, NC; Wake County

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough and precise Preventative Maintenance inspections.

Complete all scheduled maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotations.

Execute unscheduled maintenance as directed by the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.

Perform complex repairs involving engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust systems, utilizing technical drawings and specifications.

Provide emergency roadside assistance as required.

Inspect equipment and diagnose mechanical issues.

Accurately document repairs and parts used on work orders.

Maintain tools and work areas in a clean and organized manner.

Fulfill additional duties as necessary.

Be prepared for on-call service, extended hours, or weekend work when emergency conditions arise.

Occasionally drive vans, buses, and vehicles for road tests and other operational needs.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely lift over 50 lbs.

Capable of lifting heavy equipment (up to 100 lbs), including brake drums, tires, ladders, tool chests, and floor jacks when necessary.

Must be able to use ladders and other elevation equipment to access bus roofs and elevated fixtures for maintenance and repairs.

Proficient in operating various tools such as bench grinders, torches, drill presses, jacks, and other hand tools necessary for the job.

Must be able to operate a replacement vehicle or utility truck.

Drive vans, buses, or other vehicles for road tests and to shuttle vehicles in and out of the garage for repairs and maintenance.

Qualifications:
Completion of a mechanic or automotive accreditation program.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mechanic role.

Must provide own hand tools necessary for routine maintenance.
