The Campus Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of faculty, staff, students, visitors, and property through effective security measures and community engagement.

As a Campus Safety Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to uphold a safe and secure atmosphere across all Commonwealth of Virginia educational facilities. This role involves conducting regular patrols of campus buildings and grounds, remaining vigilant to potential emergencies, and offering first-response assistance as well as escort services when necessary. Essential Qualifications:

Must be a U.S. citizen. High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED). Valid Virginia operator's license required. Completion of the Department of Criminal Justice Campus Security Officer Course within 180 days of employment; active accreditation is mandatory throughout tenure. Certification in CPR/First Aid and AED within 90 days of employment; active accreditation is required throughout tenure. Completion of FEMA Independent Studies ICS 100 Introduction to Incident Command within 30 days of employment. Successful completion of Commonwealth of Virginia accredited Blood Borne Pathogens class within 30 days of employment; active renewal is necessary throughout tenure. Willingness to work at all campus locations. Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with safety and security concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. Understanding of customer service practices and principles. Knowledge of security best practices and OSHA standards. Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service. Proficiency in operating security vehicles, communication equipment, alarm systems, and other security tools. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Abilities: Capability to conduct security patrols independently. Ability to complete routine documentation. Follow and provide clear oral and written instructions. Meet the physical demands of the role and respond appropriately in routine and emergency situations. Identify issues and report relevant information to appropriate personnel. Maintain certification as a campus security officer as required by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). Conduct foot patrols across any campus location. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a higher education environment. Background in law enforcement or security within a public service or community-oriented organization. Previous training or experience in public safety operations.
