Position Overview- Oversees the technical staff during the Night Shift and provides assistance to the Supervisor V, Administrator, and lab section COQ holder.
- Facilitates training for new hires and monitors their technical performance during orientation, as well as that of less experienced personnel.
- Evaluates laboratory productivity, including supervisory review of abnormal and critical results, follow-ups on incomplete tasks, and monitoring turnaround times.
- Prepares and organizes equipment, testing materials, and workspaces.
- Accurately identifies and prepares specimens collected by phlebotomy teams, nurses, or physicians in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Verifies samples to ensure correct identification and matching with accompanying labels for accurate recording and reporting of results.
- Ensures timely completion of all scheduled and urgent tests.
- Confirms that labels on tubes correspond with patient blood records and that tubes are signed by the individual drawing blood.
- Validates the completeness and accuracy of test results.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or designated personnel.
1. A valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist issued by the NYSED.
2. Candidates must meet one of the qualification requirements for a laboratory supervisor as outlined in Title 10, Section of the New York Public Health Law.
