Responsibilities:


In the role of Safety and Security Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety and security of our facilities. This includes monitoring the premises to protect employees, patients, and visitors.

Your daily tasks will involve patrolling the grounds, both on foot and in a vehicle.

Your duties may encompass:

  • Securing access points and monitoring surveillance systems.
  • Testing and implementing new security technologies.
  • Responding to incidents and emergencies effectively.

To excel in this position, you must demonstrate the ability to remain composed and make informed decisions based on the circumstances. Timely responses to emergency situations are essential.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough inspections and maintenance of security systems.
  • Managing responses to critical incidents and documenting security breaches.
  • Providing training and orientation for new security staff.
  • Performing routine safety patrols and reporting any issues.
  • Facilitating access control and escorting visitors as needed.

CommonSpirit Health offers an Education Benefit program for eligible employees, providing financial assistance for educational pursuits.



Qualifications:

Minimum:
At least six months of experience in a security role with significant public interaction.

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

A valid State Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required within 60 days of hire.

Preferred:
One year of experience in a security position with extensive public contact is preferred.

Completion of college-level coursework in Criminal Justice is advantageous.


Completion of the International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment and the Advanced course within six months is also preferred.
