Supervision:

  • Reports directly to the VP of Finance.
  • Oversees the Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist and Accounts Receivable Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate accounting operations to ensure compliance with established accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Manage essential accounting tasks such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial assessments.
  • Lead financial audits, prepare necessary schedules, and update internal control procedures.
  • Review and coordinate financial reporting, including tax submissions and grant documentation.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the VP of Finance regarding financial matters and policy revisions.
  • Facilitate training, development, and performance evaluations for accounting personnel.
  • Maintain administrative records and ensure timely completion of organizational documentation.
  • Assist with financial forecasting, planning, and strategic advisory as required.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Competencies and Skills:

  • Leadership: Proven ability to motivate and manage a team, drive organizational change, and cultivate strong relationships.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to convey information clearly and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous data management and comprehensive documentation practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred. CPA or CMA certification is advantageous.
  • Experience: At least eight years in financial and general accounting roles, with a focus on non-profit experience. A minimum of five years in a supervisory capacity is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with accounting software (Abila/MIP/Sage Software preferred).
