Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Management Intern to join our team at The Shelly Company, a CRH company. As a Construction Management Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a vertically integrated company and gain experience in multiple aspects of construction management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in project management, including public and private jobs
  • Learn how to find, bid, and build heavy construction projects
  • Work with current bidding software and set up contracts and subcontracts
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and construction crew foremen
  • Gain experience in asphalt plant operations, including working with plant operators, yard crews, and loader operators
  • Assist with general maintenance of the plant and learn how to run scales
  • Work on construction crews and prep crews, learning how to prepare for jobs and set up equipment
  • Gain knowledge of construction equipment and its various uses and skills required
  • Work with the Operations Manager and accounting team on monthly projections, understanding job cost, reviewing workload, and analyzing financial statements
  • Gain experience in aggregate manufacturing and sales, including working in an aggregate location and learning about various materials available in quarries and pits
Requirements
  • Working towards a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Construction Management or Operations Management
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively to customers or employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, and compute rate, ratio, and percent
