Job Overview

Empyrean Services is currently in search of a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our Oil & Gas division. This position involves regular travel to support existing facilities in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing detailed scopes of work for various projects.
  • Estimating project costs effectively.
  • Collaborating closely with Operations teams.
  • Implementing Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC) protocols.
  • Applying process engineering principles within gas processing plants.
  • Providing mechanical or piping expertise in facility settings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in oil & gas projects.
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, valves, fittings, and field arrangements.
  • Assessing pressure safety valves, flare systems, and piping sizes for compliance.
  • Familiarity with gas processing and associated equipment.
  • Ability to create P&ID redlines in field conditions.
  • Developing data sheets and producing engineered pipe sketches for new designs.
  • Direct experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in the oil & gas sector is essential.
  • Familiarity with software such as VMG, Promax, or Hysis is advantageous but not mandatory.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements for this role include:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Using hands for handling tools and controls, and reaching with arms.
  • Effective communication skills.

Additional physical requirements include:

  • Walking on uneven surfaces and climbing heights up to 3 feet.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.

Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
