POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for testing and inspecting products throughout various stages of the production process to ensure complete accuracy and adherence to customer specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Interpreting engineering schematics, diagrams, or formulas and collaborating with management or engineering teams to ascertain the quality and completeness of orders.
- Selecting products for testing at designated stages in the production process and evaluating them for various qualities such as dimensions, color fidelity, and structural integrity.
- Setting up and conducting tests on materials, components, or products to assess performance, durability, or material characteristics.
- Inspecting products for compliance with UL standards and applying the necessary labels to finished items.
- Documenting product completion in Wrike (Project Management Software) through relevant paperwork and photographic evidence.
- Issuing quality alerts when issues are identified and collaborating with leadership to implement corrective measures.
- Working closely with the Engineering Manager to generate engineering change requests (ECN) when non-conformances are detected.
- Cooperating with Project Managers to ensure product quality and order completeness.
- Advising Plant Management on modifications to existing quality or production standards to optimize quality within the constraints of equipment capabilities.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
This role includes managing subordinate supervisors who oversee production employees. Responsibilities include training staff and assessing work performance in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this position, candidates must successfully perform each essential duty. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution; or three to four years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, as well as the fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical scenarios.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
