Role Summary: The Point of Care Testing Coordinator (POCC) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Point of Care Testing (POCT) within the organization. This role ensures compliance with quality improvement protocols, education, auditing, and other essential quality assurance functions to meet accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Education and Compliance: Conducts thorough quality checks to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and institutional policies for point of care testing.
- Performance Management: Establishes and maintains effective procedures for specimen handling, testing, and reporting, serving as a resource for testing sites.
- Quality Improvement Initiatives: Participates in the development of testing procedures and provides updates on regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with CLIA and CAP standards.
- Provider Collaboration: Works closely with management to evaluate and recommend new instruments and methods, participating in validation efforts as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Specific Degree(s): Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or AMT).
