Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Mathematics Teacher to join our team at Richmond County Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing mathematics curriculum, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment, and assessing student progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer mathematics curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Teach knowledge and skills in mathematics, including concepts such as real and imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations, and geometry.
  • Design learning activities to demonstrate the application of mathematics to everyday existence and problem-solving.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs.
  • Maintain familiarity with district and state standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field.
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies.
Requirements
  • Virginia State Certification as a Mathematics Education Teacher (#029 or #229 as appropriate).
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
