Compensation for this role is estimated to be $31.10 - $46.60 per hour, based on industry standards and regional factors. This figure includes base pay and does not take into account additional forms of compensation, such as shift differentials or bonuses.

At Advocate Aurora Health, we are seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Specialist to join our team in Downers Grove, Illinois. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients, utilizing your expertise in pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and blood gases.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Administering respiratory care procedures and modalities in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Using evidence-based practices, clinical decision making, and skilled communication to lead efforts in creating a safe patient environment and delivering excellent patient experiences.
  • Operating specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues, and assisting physicians with bedside or other procedures as applicable to the facility.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring proper functionality of equipment, troubleshooting as necessary and identifying the need for service and/or repair.
  • Educating and instructing patients in the purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
  • Collaborating with other departments to provide education on managing patients, and promoting a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which you practice.
  • An Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months, or an Active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if received prior to January 1, 2023.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
