Role Summary

Join a dedicated team focused on delivering exceptional nursing care aimed at enhancing patient comfort and health. This role involves executing medical tasks as directed by healthcare providers. Employ the Nursing Process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation) to deliver quality nursing services to the clinic's patient demographic, adhering to Allergy Partners' standards and protocols. Accurately document patient assessments, care provided, and any changes in condition. Act as a crucial link between healthcare providers and patients, offering education and support to both patients and their families within the defined scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties
  • Welcome patients and guide them from the waiting area to examination rooms; prepare them for assessments or treatments; record vital signs.
  • Assist physicians as needed during patient evaluations.
  • Conduct Spirometry and other pulmonary tests as prescribed.
  • Organize and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures, ensuring proper sterilization.
  • Provide patient education as necessary.
  • Document all relevant information in the patient's medical records.
  • Facilitate prescription processes as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Conduct allergy testing as instructed by the physician.
  • Administer allergy injections according to the physician's approved schedule.
  • Monitor patients for any adverse reactions post-injection.
  • Ensure emergency equipment is ready and well-maintained.
  • Assess patient concerns over the phone using established triage protocols to determine necessary care.
  • Exhibit strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. Ensure thorough documentation of calls and timely follow-up with patients and providers.
  • Assist providers with documentation as required.
  • Follow up on referrals and insurance authorizations as needed.
  • Manage requirements for biologics, including necessary paperwork for ordering and billing.
  • Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and medication samples.
  • Collaborate with patients, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and practice compliance standards.
  • Maintain proficiency in practice management software relevant to job functions.
  • Participate in required training programs, including CPR, OSHA, and HIPAA.
  • Attend regular team meetings and engage in professional development opportunities.
  • Complete all assigned training within specified timeframes.
  • Comply with Allergy Partners policies and report any policy violations appropriately.
Restrictions:
All nursing staff will operate within their defined scope of practice as established by their state nursing board. The following limitations apply:
  • Cannot dispense medications without a prescription.
  • Cannot administer medications without a physician's order.
  • Cannot provide patient care unless a provider is present.
  • Cannot diagnose patients.
Physical Demands:
This position requires a full range of motion, including manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination. The role involves standing and walking, with occasional lifting of items up to 30 pounds. Normal vision and hearing capabilities are necessary. The employee may work under stress and be exposed to bodily fluids regularly.

Working Conditions:
Potential exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, needle sticks, and other common clinic-related conditions.

Qualifications

Educational Background:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered nursing license in the state of employment or a compact state.
Experience and Skills:
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations applicable to outpatient practices.
  • Experience in communication and interaction with physicians.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in electronic medical record documentation and practice management software.
