About the Role:

The Senior Credit Officer plays a pivotal part in our Commercial Banking team, providing expert guidance on credit and loan underwriting. This entails analyzing prospective loan transactions, evaluating borrowers' creditworthiness, and validating credit analysis prepared by Credit Analysts.

  • Evaluates industry data, competitive factors, historical performance, projected results, risks, and mitigating factors to determine sources and uses of funds and analyzes collateral periodically to minimize credit risk;
  • Ensures all due diligence and background evaluation is complete and thorough before submitting a Credit Memo (CM);
  • Provides balanced and appropriate credit guidance to Relationship Managers and collaborates in determining credit strategy;
  • Authors Credit Memos and provides input on loan pricing when it does not appear to reflect inherent risk;
  • Restructures loans and/or lines of credit as required and assumes accountability for minimizing Bank losses;
  • Monitors and responds to past due reporting items and/or covenant defaults based on partnership with Relationship Managers;
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge on all Bank lending policies and regulations and confers with the Credit Manager regarding new/existing lending requirements;
  • Coodinates loan documentation, reviews collateral, and ensures all loans are documented to fully protect the Bank's interests.

Responsibilities:

  • Attends client meetings to facilitate delivery of credit products and assist in problem resolution;
  • Contacting borrowers directly for additional information and details related to loan requests or clarification of financial materials and resources;
  • Providing creative ways to structure credits ensuring that transactions are within profitability and portfolio risk standards;
  • Performing quarterly Problem Loan reporting for Criticized/Classified credits and taking a proactive approach toward development and implementation of Action Plans;
  • Escalating potential credit issues to Relationship Managers, CBS Managers, and/or Credit Managers;
  • Identifying and responding to early problem loans and timely and accurate changes in loan grades.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent;
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in underwriting medium to large-sized and moderately complex commercial credit;
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a banking or financial services environment;
  • or a minimum of 10 years experience in underwriting large and complex commercial loans.

Compensation and Benefits:
