Job Overview

Qualis Corporation is in search of a dedicated Engineering Technician to provide Engineering Advisory and Assistance Support (A&AS) for the 96th Test Wing. The primary responsibility of the Engineering Technician will be to assist the Army's 7th Special Forces Group in the collection, editing, storage, and retrieval of geo-spatial data related to range environments and infrastructure. Additionally, the technician will extend similar support to the 96th RANGE, which is crucial for equipping the Eglin Range Commander (96TW/CC) and his team with essential decision-making and situational awareness information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver information management support for computer systems utilized in environmental management.
  • Responsibilities encompass system definition, implementation, maintenance, military and natural resources data collection recommendations, automated data collection, and data management.
  • Provide Geographic Information System support through hardware and software recommendations, technical support, data development, and the interpretation of remotely sensed imagery.
  • Support the Sustainable Range Program (SRP) and Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) program, covering all program components such as Range Training Land Analysis (RTLA), Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM), Environmental Awareness (EA), and Training Requirement Integration (TRI).
  • Assist with RTLA program tasks, including plot allocation, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Contribute to LRAM program efforts by applying existing technologies and developing new solutions to restore lands affected by military activities.
  • Provide educational resources through EA to enhance understanding of military and natural resource missions among leaders, soldiers, and civilians. TRI support will involve bridging the gap between natural resource management and military objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, along with experience in spatial analysis and a background in computer science, cartography, graphic arts, and database management. Experience may substitute for education with government approval.
  • Familiarity with the procedures and processes of the Air Force Test Center and DoD regulations is essential.
  • A broad understanding of test facilities, instrumentation, and test environments supporting 96 TW, OSD, and DOD missions is necessary.
  • Knowledge of DoD systems, acquisition program management concepts, and the principles of AF Test and Evaluation is required.
  • Ability to quickly grasp the customer's technical objectives and provide effective solutions is crucial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with customer interaction and presentation capabilities, are essential.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the 96TW and high standards of quality and excellence in performing duties.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team is required.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% is expected.
  • US Citizenship is mandatory.

  • An active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance is required.
