Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering high-quality eye care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient histories, including past medical history, family medical history, and chief complaint
  • Perform diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures, including visual acuity assessments, eye examinations, and imaging studies
  • Apply anesthetics, dilate, or medicate eyes as needed
  • Measure intraocular pressure and read eyeglass prescriptions
  • Chart results in patient electronic medical records and provide chair-side physician assistance
  • Prepare necessary paperwork for surgeries and give instructions to patients on eye care
  • E-prescribe or phone in prescriptions as needed
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Ensure proper supplies and equipment are available and functional for patient care
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years of experience in a medical practice
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
