Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Custodial Assistant Supervisor to join our team at Wheaton College. As a key member of our facilities services team, you will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for assigned custodial staff operations, prioritizing project work, ensuring supply inventory is maintained, and making routine inspections to ensure effective and efficient facilities services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and guidance to assigned custodial staff, prioritizing project work and ensuring effective and efficient facilities services.
  2. Operations Management: Manage and maintain supply inventory, perform routine inspections, and ensure that all facilities services are provided in a timely and efficient manner.
  3. Communication and Collaboration: Utilize published calendars and event scheduling systems to determine optimal scheduling of project work, ensuring minimal interruption to events and classes.
  4. Employee Support: Assist staff as needed to contribute to efficient facilities operations, including performing custodial duties.
  5. Customer Service: Ensure effective and efficient service to all customers, including students, faculty, and staff.
  6. Work Order Management: Continually monitor assigned work orders, ensuring timely response and clear communication to customers regarding work order status.
  7. Employee Safety: Ensure that employee safety is a top priority, providing training on cleaning processes, proper use of chemicals and equipment, lifting and hauling, and other work performed by assigned staff.
  8. Campus-Wide Facilities Processes: Assist with campus-wide facilities processes, including waste-hauling, fire protection services, pest control, and other projects as assigned.
  9. Emergency Response: Be responsive to emergency situations on campus outside of designated shifts or work hours, designating backup when unavailable.
  10. Supervisory Support: Coordinate with the Custodial Supervisor to ensure that all routine and special activities are properly covered during their absence.
Qualifications
  1. Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Experience: Two years of custodial experience.
  3. Leadership and Communication Skills: Proven ability to lead by example, communicate effectively, and hold employees accountable for established expectations.
  4. Interpersonal and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to anticipate and recognize problems and develop creative solutions.
  5. Technology Skills: Strong technology skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as knowledge of current custodial technology trends and solutions.
  6. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, talk, and hear, as well as use repetitive hand motions, handle or feel, and stand, walk, reach, climb, crawl, crouch, stoop, kneel, bend, push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
