About the role: The work of a Software Engineer (SWE) extends beyond just Search, reflecting Google's ambitious goals.

SWE Managers possess not only the technical acumen to lead significant projects but also the capability to manage a team of engineers.

You will optimize your own code while ensuring that your team can enhance theirs. As a SWE Manager, you will oversee project objectives, contribute to product strategy, and foster team development.

SWE teams collaborate across the organization, engaging in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system architecture, networking, security, data compression, and user interface design; the opportunities are vast and continually expanding.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Establish clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role, aligned with the broader organizational goals. Conduct regular meetings with individuals to discuss performance and development, providing feedback and coaching.
Develop the mid-term technical vision and roadmap within the scope of your (often multiple) team(s). Adapt the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.

Design, guide, and evaluate system designs within the broader area, and write product or system development code to address ambiguous challenges.

Review code produced by other engineers and provide constructive feedback to ensure adherence to best practices (e.g., style guidelines, code accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
