Job Title: Direct Support Staff

About the Role:

Fruitwood Care LLC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Staff to join our team. As a Direct Support Staff, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in inclusive, community-based settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the integration of individuals into community-based activities and support their acquisition of functional skills necessary for community integration.
  • Provide assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and feeding, to ensure the comfort and safety of individuals.
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors, including self-injurious behavior, physical and verbal aggression, and other disruptive behaviors.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of individual progress, incidents, and other relevant information.
  • Work collaboratively with other direct care staff and leadership to ensure the highest quality of care.

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License in good standing with access to a registered vehicle and proof of insurance.
  • Good physical health verified by a health screening, including a test for tuberculosis.
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks and driver history screenings.
  • Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Strong understanding of person-centered thinking and planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and supportive demeanor towards individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Reliable, punctual, and attentive to the needs of clients.
