Job OverviewThe Pharmacy Intake Representative will play a critical role in assisting our clients, using critical thinking skills and exercising independent decision-making to coordinate externally with referral sources, insurance companies, and patients. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate with patients to obtain information required to process prescriptions, refills, and access benefits, building trusted and enduring customer relationships.
- Investigate and verify benefits for pharmacy and medical third-party claims, communicating with financial assistance teams to secure financial assistance for patients.
- Obtain prior authorizations, track progress, and expedite responses from insurance carriers and other payers, maintaining contact with customers to keep them informed.
- Facilitate appeals processes between patients, physicians, and insurance companies, composing clinical appeals letters and ensuring all clinical information and documentation are obtained prior to appeal submission.
- Track, report, and escalate service issues arising from requests for authorizations, financial assistance, or other issues that delay service, ensuring patient access and avoiding delays that may interrupt therapy.
- Build and maintain effective business relationships with prescribers treating assigned disease states, providing ongoing communication of specific case-related information as appropriate.
- Complete assessments mandated by manufacturer contracts or operations, facilitating patient enrollment with manufacturer Hubs when required.
- Receive notification of patients in need of financial assistance, communicating with patients to provide information regarding assistance programs and community resources.
- Obtain required information and permission from patients, submitting electronic applications for financial assistance on their behalf or providing patients with forms required by assistance providers.
- Follow up with assistance providers to determine the status of applications, expedite consideration of requests, advocate on behalf of patients, and track the status of applications and related activity.
- Document case activity, communications, and correspondence in the computer system to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient contact records.
- Previous experience as an Intake Representative in a retail setting.
- Pharmacy technician experience: 2 years (Preferred).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Eagerness to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and take initiative on a variety of tasks and projects.
