Job Summary:

As a Child Life Specialist at Sutter Health, you will play a vital role in helping pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients and families cope with hospitalization and illness. You will plan and implement evidence-based therapeutic, recreational, and diversion interventions based on the emotional and developmental needs of your patients. Your goal will be to promote and practice high-quality family-centered care and services for patients and families.

Responsibilities:

• Assist pediatric and NICU patients and families in coping with hospitalization and illness through therapeutic play and other interventions.

• Plan and implement programs and services to meet the needs of assigned clinical populations and the child life department.

• Promote and practice high-quality family-centered care and services for patients and families.

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients and families.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.

• Successful completion of a Child Life internship that meets the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) requirement for Clinical Child Life Certification.

• 2 years of experience working with hospitalized and non-hospitalized children and families.

• Strong knowledge of child growth and development, family dynamics, therapeutic play, and other relevant areas.

• Ability to implement therapeutic play activities for individual children and groups, and to assess children's behaviors and needs.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and healthcare professionals.
