Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our Behavioral Health team at McLaren USA. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a critical role in helping patients achieve their full potential by developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that promote recreational, social, emotional, physical, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patient Evaluations: Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify deficits in recreational and social activities, and develop treatment plans to address these areas.
  2. Treatment Planning: Create individualized treatment plans that align with physician orders and address specific impairments identified during evaluations.
  3. Ongoing Reassessment: Continuously evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  4. Discharge Planning: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement discharge plans that meet patient needs and promote successful transition to community-based care.
  5. Supervision and Education: Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary staff and students, and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers on recreational therapy techniques and strategies.
  6. Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to promote maximum benefit of care.
  7. Professional Growth and Development: Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in recreational therapy and promote professional growth and development.
  8. Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and promote a culture of excellence within the organization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
  • Current certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
  • BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.
