United Digestives is seeking a highly skilled Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our anesthesia department, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based anesthesia services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating patients prior to endoscopy procedures, administering anesthesia, and monitoring patients during and post-procedure under the medical direction of a qualified anesthesiologist.
  • Perform pre-screening evaluations, gather pre-operative data, and administer pre-anesthetic medications as prescribed.
  • Obtain and prepare equipment, standard monitors, supplies, and drugs for anesthesia services, and perform safety checks as needed.
  • Administer analgesic and anesthetic agents, adjuvant drugs, and fluids necessary to provide anesthesia services, and perform airway management.
  • Evaluate patient response to anesthesia and endoscopy, take corrective action during the post-anesthesia period, and participate in post-anesthesia evaluation and care.

Qualifications

  • Current active state licensure as a certified anesthesiologist assistant and compliance with state statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Graduate of an anesthesiologist assistant educational program supported by an anesthesiology department of a medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
  • Current certification or recertification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants, and one to three years of anesthesia experience preferred.

Additional Skills and Experience

  • Ability to perform clinically as a CAA in the endoscopy setting, operate, use, and interpret data from a wide variety of equipment, and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with clinical staff and other disciplines, and ability to interact with team members, patients, physicians, and visitors with courtesy and respect.

  • Participation in required educational programs and net learning, departmental meetings, and ongoing professional educational growth.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands

Ability to work under stress, moderate periods of sitting and computer use, good visual acuity, and ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, lifting, and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds, and travel as business needs dictate.
