As a Community Supervision Specialist, you will oversee, monitor, and conduct investigative work for individuals assigned to probation by the judicial system.
This role is distinct from other positions due to its focus on assessing, supervising, and managing various categories of offenders under court-mandated probation.
(Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred)
Initially, you will engage in foundational probation officer duties. Employees operate under close guidance and invest significant time in understanding the procedures and operations of the Probation Department and the Courts.
With each year of experience, you will gain deeper insights into the offenders you supervise and the responsibilities associated with your role as a court officer. You will progressively handle more intricate tasks, work with greater autonomy, and enhance your professional skills.
Continuous acceptable performance evaluations are required, along with comprehensive knowledge of all facets of probation work, including specialized caseload supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise probationers and connect them with community resources.
- Develop case plans with offenders aimed at fostering positive behavior and addressing the harm caused to victims and the community.
- Encourage and manage the probation process using a range of sanctions and incentives. Recommend extensions or terminations of probation when appropriate.
- Conduct thorough investigations and provide informed recommendations for sentencing to the court based on your findings. Present information both verbally and in writing in court settings.
- Prepare detailed reports and memoranda.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and probation notes as per departmental guidelines.
- Some roles may require travel.
- Certain positions may involve providing assistance to victims.
