Job Summary

MTRLR Corp. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial analysis, with experience in the transportation or leasing industry.

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing and analyzing financial data, ensuring accurate reporting, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. This role will support both Mendon Truck Leasing and Metropolitan Truck Sales, requiring strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including sales tax and other applicable requirements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and assist with audit preparations.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for cost-saving initiatives.
  • Enter new trucks, recording deposits for trucks, paying off truck principles and monthly floorplan.
  • Record truck sales (new and used).
  • Review trucks to make sure they are properly accounted for. Reclass vendor invoices to the correct trucks if necessary.
  • Pay off taxes for NJ and NY, including sale taxes, tire taxes, service taxes, and part sales taxes.
  • Hino reconciliation, including part purchases, returns, rebates, credits, shipping and handling, warranties paid, warranty credits, and floorplan interest credits.
  • UD and FUSO reconciliation, including part purchases, returns, rebates, credits, shipping and handling, warranties paid, warranty credits, and floorplan interest credits.
  • Credit card reconciliation, requesting receipts, charges, and invoices to reconcile credit card statements.
  • Coordinate with branch managers and head of sales via emails and phone calls for all matters, including DMV checks, adding trucks to CDK for repair orders, ordering deposit slips, checking truck inventory, vendor invoices, title invoices, coordinating vendor payments, ordering title replacements, etc.
  • Mendon's workman's comp schedule for monthly standard journals entry.
  • Reconcile intercompany between Metropolitan and Mendon booking or following up the employees booking to intercompany.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, amortization, and depreciation schedules.
  • Supervise the suspense account and follow up with different departments to make sure it clears out.
  • Maintain customer deposit schedules as well as other securities accounts.
  • Review monthly cash disbursement, account payable purchase journal, allowance, and cash register reports for discrepancies.
  • Maintain fixed assets excluding trucks spreadsheet.
  • Maintain commissions amortization spreadsheet.
  • Trial balances, aging reports, license reports, revenue reports, and ad-hoc reports.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the transportation or leasing industry. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Excel is required. Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
