Job Summary

UNC Health is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team on the 3rd Floor Medical Surgical Unit at Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC. As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide routine direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting, working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures.
  • Provide assistance to patients and their families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
  • Perform vital sign measurements, height and weight checks, specimen collection, and other routine care activities.
  • Assist with patient transfers, ambulation, and other mobility needs.
  • Participate in maintaining a clean and safe environment, including cleaning the work area, changing linens, and restocking supplies.
  • Document patient information and report significant changes in patient condition to registered nurses or physicians.
Requirements
  • Listing as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with 36 hours per week, working 3 12-hour shifts with every other weekend. Holidays are rotated among staff. The standard shifts are and with every other weekend.
