Position Overview

MedStar Health is currently seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist with proficiency in multiple modalities.

As a Multiskilled Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a diverse range of radiographic examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating various patient conditions. This role requires a high level of independent judgment, creativity, and initiative in applying ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. You will utilize both computer-assisted and manual equipment during imaging technique selection.

In this position, you will take responsibility for specific areas or procedures as needed, operating radiological equipment to generate clinical diagnostic x-ray images as per physician directives. You will also ensure that routine diagnostic procedures are performed in accordance with established standards and practices, prioritizing the medical needs, dignity, and comfort of all patients.

As a leader within the Radiology department, you will provide guidance and support to fellow associates, demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver appropriate clinical care tailored to the patient population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit comprehensive understanding and clinical proficiency across all exams and equipment of various modalities, including the preparation and administration of contrast agents as authorized by Radiologists. Ensure the highest level of attention to patient needs and comfort.
  • Adhere to departmental imaging standards by delivering high-quality imaging of designated anatomical areas, ensuring proper labeling of images, effectively communicating the exam process to patients, and gathering relevant clinical information.
  • Accurately identify patients (Name & DOB) while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Demonstrate adequate knowledge to provide radiological services suitable for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, adhering to all radiation safety protocols.
  • Complete examination documentation in RIS and PACS, ensuring all images are processed, archived, and accessible for Radiologist interpretation while maintaining departmental documentation standards across electronic systems.
  • Maintain and care for departmental facilities in line with hospital infection control policies, ensuring treatment rooms are cleaned and stocked. Carry out routine responsibilities independently with minimal supervision, knowing when to escalate issues to leadership.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • 3-4 years of experience in the registry post-primary pathway certification preferred.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Registry, NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board), or ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) status maintained through education and registry requirements in one or more of the following: MRI, CT, Mammography, Cardiac-Interventional Radiography, Vascular Interventional Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Densitometry, Quality Management, or Sonography.
  • CHCQM - Certified Healthcare Quality Management through the Maryland Board of Physician Quality Assurance.
  • Active Maryland state licensure.
  • CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
