Position Overview:

The Nutrition Specialist is tasked with evaluating and planning the dietary care of residents while ensuring the delivery of high-quality food services.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related discipline.

Licenses/Certification:

  • Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • State-required license or certification.
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in long-term care and geriatric nutrition is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain precise nutrition documentation.
  • Engage in care planning and interdisciplinary team discussions.
  • Tailor menus to align with residents' preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Oversee food quality and distribution processes.
  • Assist in processing diet orders and conducting resident assessments.
  • Regularly inspect food service areas and practices.
  • Participate in the survey process and support purchasing decisions and staff training.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills with residents, families, and team members.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Knowledgeable in safe food preparation, handling, and large-scale food production.
